Prosser Vineyard & Winery makes wine the old fashion way...... By Hand

Prosser Vineyard & Winery is a boutique winery located in Prosser WA, the birthplace of Washington's wine country.  We are new to the area but not the wine industry.  Bill Jenkin is the former owner and winemaker for award winning Pamo Valley Vineyard & Winery in Ramona CA.  He also founded the Ramona Valley Vineyard Association.

Bill relocated to Prosser in 2007 and decided to plant malbec grapes on his 4 acre estate.  He then began the process of establishing a boutique winery that will proudly produce wines worthy of carrying the Prosser name.

Bill and fiancé’ Lisa Mahoney purchased syrah and cabernet sauvignon premium wine grapes from Coyote Canyon Vineyard within the Horse Heaven Hills AVA.  The first vintage will be released early in 2011.  We look forward to sharing our passion with you!

The Horse Heaven Hills AVA is an American Viticultural Area in southeastern Washington, and is part of the larger Columbia Valley AVA.

The Horse Heaven Hills AVA borders the Yakima Valley AVA on the north and the Columbia River on the south. Elevations in this AVA range from 200 feet (61 m) above sea level in the south to 1,800 feet (549 m) above sea level at the northern boundary.

Grapes planted in the south-facing slopes of the Horse Heaven Hills benefit from strong winds that arrive from the west via the Columbia Gorge, reducing the likelihood of rot and fungal diseases.
